It is used in Ayurveda as a sleep aid, for memory enhancement, to balance aggravated Vata (nervine tonic, sedative), to relieve general debility, especially during convalescence or old age and as Rasayana (a rejuvenating tonic). In general, Withania is generally well tolerated in adults with occasional gastrointestinal upset and allergic skin reactions.
